System :

TV - KD-65X8509C
Soundbar - HT-ST9

I have recently purchased this set up, but am experiencing a problem. I presume it is a setting issue rather than a hardware one.

The devices that are connected via the HDMI ports have crystal clear sound. However, the device which is connected direct to the TV and so is using the digital optical out to provide a signal to the soundbar. This is experiencing sound distortion on what happens to be the deeper sounds.

Help please.

Hi Marlon_NFFC,
you don't really need an optical connection to make the system work with your TV. Just connect it to HDMI-ARC socket in your TV and ensure HDMI-ARC is also enabled in th HT. You'll have the Audio return channel streaming on the the HDMI cable with better sound quality (no downsizing via HDMI)

Hi I had the same problem if it is the end speakers. I gently pushed the cones in and out to loosen them. The problem was solved no more distortion. I think the cones are quite tight when new hope this helps
