Download Firmware button does nothing

Hello

I have a KDL-26EX302 and attempted to download the firmware update M8.728 using the SONY website. I pressed Download button brought up the license agreement which I scrolled through to activate the Download button as it should. Everything was in order and pressed Download. Under normal circumstances this very simple process would result in a download message. But in this case nothing happened, no download nothing. I thought the chat line would be useful but that's a virtual assistant which will lead nowhere.

I can't think of any reason why the download wouldn't work, unless it's because my Sony TV is very old at least 10 years. I had hoped SONY would allow people to send emails direct to support but that appears not to be the case. Has anybody here experienced problems downloading firmware updates which do nothing.

I think the issue is probably with your browser. I tried it on Chrome and it gave me the same issue you faced, but then used Firefox and it gave me a direct link that worked fine even on Chrome: http://download.sony-europe.com/PUB/TV/M8728/firmware.upd

Thank you for your message Joe.

I still had no success with both Chrome browser (Windows 8.1) and Firefox browser (XP). Your correct the Firefox browser almost worked but did not solve the problem. At least is did something better than nothing, it filled the display with weird characters, but did not download. Sony Support has very kindly offered a solution which I am pursuing.
