TV Crashes when trying to playback recording KD-49X8505B

Hoping some one here can help me. I've just started using my TV's recording function and have so far recorded 3 tv episodes which are on my external HDD. I did the test and I registered the HDD and all was well.

Tried to replay the recorded episodes last night, it started to play around 3 seconds and then just abruptly stopped, no error message or any reason why it had stopped it just did.

I plugged the HDD into my computer and checked the video files and they where all over 1GB so it must have successfully recorded?

I'm a bit confused my TV is the model KD-49X8505B any help would be most appreciated!
