.MKV files not shown when browsing Media Server

I have conencted my KDL-42W655A to my home network using WiFi and am able to see and browse folders on my Windows 7 machine. Streaming from the w7 machine also works flawlessly.

When copying .mkv files to USB, the TV further shows these and is able of opalyback (following software update).

However, when I browse the server, .MKV files are not shown.

If I change the extension to .AVI, they are (and they also play without problems).

Is there some way to make the TV show the .MKV files on themedia server without having to change the extension?

This sounds more like an issue on the server side. What server software are you using ?
