32bit os doesnt read above 2gb i believe, so go straight to windows 7 x64 (64bit) and then upgrade the memory.

but my advice would be check the laptops drivers to see if 64bit is supported, and indeed if sony have bothered at all to do any upgrades since the orignals (as i have noticed sony seem to eb the worst at this)

Even with 4GB installed your oprating system will probably only show approximately 3.2GB..

Yes, that what I thought. Just need to be sure. Is it really big difference between 32 bit and 64? I mean speed- wise? Sony probably is not supporting 64 bit? So clean install will be needed if I wanna get more from Ram?

OOoo Is Vaio VGN-FW4 (was customized on-line) and is ready to work with 64 bit system (checked). Thanks Guys:)

Message was edited by: makilic78

Message was edited by: makilic78

well if i had the choice between 32 and 64, id go straight for 64.

put it another way, every cpu these days is 64bit.

3 years ago there was hardly any software out that was with 64bit, yet now you hardly find any that isnt. and its becuase its makes everythign faster.
