I've recently bought a PCVRS322 vaio, when I use the flash memory slot to view and download pics from my digital camera, all's well until I remove it, using the 'safely remove hardware' facility. Having safely removed the card, all three of the card slot drives disappear from 'My Computer' as does the safely remove hardware faciltiy from the system tray. If I want to view the card again, or indeed another, I have to reboot the machine, (which is very annoying) on order to access those slots, also on reboot the 'safely remove hardware' icon reappears in the systray. Does anyone have any ideas, please?

Don't use the 'safely remove hardware' option - this will remove the device, not the card.

Just remove the card when you are sure it is not being accessed.

Yes, check for a light to show there is activity.
When it's all stopped, take it out.

Safely remove hardware powers down the hardware and makes it available for removal - mainly for USB related gear.

Thank you for your advice, I did wonder that but was afraid I'd corrupt the card. First time I've posted, glad I did!
