High Definition capabilty - V2S

Hi,

Sony make a big play about the HD capabilities of the Vaio screen - with the forthcoming xbox 360 offering HD output, is it possible to connect this to a vaio desktop?

Looking at the back of the unit (V2S) there is an rf input, s-video (?) and the 3 socket a/v input. Is this enough, or are there any other alternatives?

I think one possible connector with the xbox 360 is the 15 pin video connector, as if connecting to a pc monitor - does the V2S have this connector hidden away somewhere?

In short, if i buy an xbox 360, will i be able to play in high definition on my vaio v2s???

Yes, the problem is similar with HD TVs.

They make alot advertizement with the HD-Ready logo. But HD-Ready means not HD quality.

No as these guys said.

What's even worse is the New VA-Series hasn't got HD display, but you can Capture and edit high-definition camcorder video.
I think Europe will release this in January or maybe in Spring:smileysad:

I don't know what happened to my IE:smileyconfused:

The only HD monitor availble for PC is the HT-Series.
Again this HD ready as Seb said but tuner required for HD reception.

I think i know what HD ready means (you can plug a decoded (or similar) HD signal in to the set and it'll display it, but you need a seperate HD receiver).

Just annoying that i have a spangly black LCD display with no means of plugging a HD input in.

If your screen can display an image of 1024x768 and above it will be able to scale the HD signal from the xbox.

You can goto the Microsoft website and various other places to download HD video samples etc.

There are a lot of options for high definition (HD) displays; however, not all models offer full high definition capabilities. Some HD displays only improve the look of standard definition video and some offer 720p but not 1080p support.

Minimum Configuration
(to play 720p video) 1024 x 768 screen resolution

Optimum Configuration
(to play 1080p video) 1920 x 1440 screen resolution

The HD chip on new screens and devices decode the signal, almost like macrovision found on dvds and tapes.
