hi have just changed my damaged screen on my vgn f series and keep getting the above message also screen only comes on when i fully open the lid to its maximum any help please???

Hi Jim,

I can’t say why this message appears as I have not encountered it before, but it would seem that there is information retained on the machine relating to the old hardware.

Try resetting all devices by powering down, removing the power supply and battery and holding down the power button for 30 seconds. Re-attach the power adaptor and battery and reboot.

As the power adaptor and battery were presumably removed during the process of the new screen install this may have no effect whatsoever but is worth a try...

Also have you tried connecting to an external monitor?

The screen only coming on when fully open could be a separate issue.

I think this is just a setting on the power options. Check out Control Panel - Power Options. There should be an option there that ask you on what should be done if the lid is close.It's possible that it is set to turn off monitor. Just change it to "Do nothing".
