Cannot update Vaio VGN-BX197XP

This VAIO has never been updated since purchase.

I have tried to uninstall VAIO Update 3 in preparation for downloading Update 5 (or 4, first, if

need be) - but "Add/Remove Programs" cannot uninstall it.

I get this message:

Error loading C: PROGRA~1\COMMON~\INSTAL~\PROFES~1\RunTime\11\50\Intel32\Ctor.dll

I have tried Thalamus's link (vaio update 3.* ) to download and re-install Vaio update 3 (from his post of 15 July, 2010) and I get a message that it is not a valid WIN32 application.

Does anyone have a solution?

Hi olivia43,

Not a solution but a workaround would be to visit the Support site and manually download and install any available updates.

Or you could try uninstalling VAIO Update 3 in Safe Mode.

Hi Olivia. You can do that. Basically, its a separate program that does the same thing. Are you trying to get Windows update or drivers?

Hi Rich,

Tried but couldn't uninstall it in Safe Mode - but was sucessful with a downloaded program called "Perfect Uninstaller".

Now to try to update the VAIO...
