Yes I have the same problem. I have just bought an Apple Airport Express and an HP Photosmart printer. I am trying to get them to run with my Sony Viao VPCEA3C5E. Both the Apple and the HP installation software will not install as Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 is a prerequite. I have run the Windows update program and that is telling me that the current version is to up todate - despite Service Pack 1 not being installed.

I have been to the Windows trouble shooting site http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5842

and even when I try to dowload manually that fails.

I have spoken to the Sony help desk twice. The first time they have instructed me that it's not a Sony problem, it's a Windows problem. The Windows site states that as it's a OEM version I should address the problem to Sony http://support.microsoft.com/gp/oemsupport

The second time I called I was told that Sony don't support Service Pack 1. But I could try - but the laptop would become unsuportable by Sony and it would also format my hard disk.

Am I the only Sony customer that uses Apple and HP wireless products ? I find it amazing that Sony aren't instep with the largest manufacturers of PC compatible gear. When I demanded to speak to a manager I was finally advised that they would be looking in to this ?

Incidently my HP PC works a treat with both wireless product - do I need to stop buying Sony and start buying HP

Can any one help - I have spent two days on this.

Hi levilyn,

Sony does not provide the service pack – this is totally down to Microsoft. If they are referring to the fact that you are having difficulty installing this update then maybe they are saying that you need to contact Sony for support.

The following links will give more information on downloading the service pack and how to troubleshoot installation problems.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/downloads/service-packs?SignedIn=1

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/troubleshoot-problems-installing-service-pack

You could also check whether service pack one is already installed.

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/how-to-check-if-service-pack-one-for-windows-7-is-installed-or-not.aspx

Rich
