Sony Vaio disconnects internet

I recently purchased a sony vaio SVE1512K1EB with Windows 8.

When connecting to the internet via wifi as soon as the vaio connects the signal becomes 'limited' and prevents internet connection. This also causes all other devices conntected to the internet (both wired and wireless connections) to disconnect also.

Is this a known problem and what is the solution? Thanks

Hi KMi_16 and welcome.

Are you using the preinstalled McAfee Security or have you installed another AV Program?

There is a known download problem if something like Norton is installed without the complete removal of McAfee using the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool (MCPR).

Hello, thankyou for your response.

I only have the McAfee security at the moment on the 30 day free trial.

I used a WINSOCK reset command that was suggested in another forum; this worked until turning off the laptop when the same issue returned.

It appears to knock out all of the lights on the wifi router within a minute of the vaio connecting.
