No apologies necesssary Faith. Centrino chips have more cache memory and therefore can work at slower clock speeds and so use less power. I understand that you can get around 4 hours out of a centrino laptop; although that is with a small-ish screen and of course you will have to pay a premium

Faith, my Z1RSP with a 1.7 centrino runs for about 2 1/2 hours on the battery.
If i change the power profile settings for maximum life (slow the processor, reduce the screen brightness, turn off power to both the DVD drive and memory stick, only run easy applications such as Word or Excel) I can then run for up to 4 hours.

There is an optional double sized battery available (at a price !!) which would raise the battery life from 2 1/2 - 4 hours up to 5 - 8 hours.

If computer suppliers ever supplied a screen with a translucent back, we could use ambient light through the case to light trhe screen, thus allowing us to turn the back light off and run the computer for another hour or so.

New screen technology is being worked on with "light emitting polymers" which will do away with back lights for ever!!

I suppose if the translucent backs are new screen technology, they will be very expensive won't they
