Does anyone know how could I upgrade my Phoenix BIOS in my PCG-GRT996VP notebook. I searched SONY's upgrades but I found nothing. From Phoenix they answered that they do not support this upgrade feature and I have to contact SONY. Actually I'm searching for a possibility to boot from USB or 1394.

Thanks

Any BIOS changes are to be done CAREFULLY. With Sony, I would say use only Sony updates. They lock certain aspects of the BIOS so that users cannot make changes.

This is probably why Phoenix can't/ won't help.

I really know that changes in BIOS should be done very carefully.
In my desktop, actually I have been done several updates without any problem.
The "thing" this time is that SONY's BIOS has only the essentials and in fact is extremely useless for a medium user. I mean that, for security reasons it is OK to not have the opportunity for overclocking etc. But for options such as USB boot I don't think it's a big deal.
Anyway, if there is someone who can help enabling such options (from the hidden one) please do so.

You can definitely boot from the USB-floppy-drive PCGA-UFD5.
i.LINK is not supported.
