Bluetooth not working after upgrade from XP home to Pro

Hi

I have a VGN-A117s / A170

I used bluetooth well under its default Win XP Home system using the normal BlueSpace NE application.

I upgraded to windows xp pro SP1 (clean install). Installed all the hotfixes etc. Installed all the sony applications/drivers. Everything works well except bluetooth.

I cannot run bluespace at all. It refuses to load even though installed. The bluetooth virtual driver is installed.

What seems to be the problem?

Has anyone else had this problem?

Do you get any error messages when running Bluespace?
Maybe you should consider SP2 when it rolls out in 2 weeks time.

No error messages at all. When I click in it the hour glass does it's stuff for 10 seconds, then nothing, Bluespace is in the processes list however nothing to show to it.

It obviously works with the xp pro laptop version, question is, is there a chance I can get the pro recovery disk for my model?

Come on sony, why can't you make this simpler? I have had Dell's before and installations a very straight forward. This is not right. I am sure Microsoft would not approve of Sony making it difficult to upgrade the OS from home to XP.

Hmm usually when you run bluespace it goes to the system tray, does it do that for you?

Hi have the same problem with my A117S. I have see that one device in my hardware device list is not installed correctly. When I try to install it... i see that is the Bluetooth controller. I try to find the driver and, in the Driver Package of Sony exist a folder with "Bluethooh Driver". I try put this folder in the searchable folders for locate the driver.. and surprise: the device math with the driver but Windows say that have a problem because the drivers are not complete.

I look at ALPBTM.inf (the main inf for this device) and I hace see that the manufacturer is "ALPS" and, inside the file, i have see:
Include=Bth.inf
Needs=BthUsb.NT

The problem is that BTH.INF and BTHUSB.INF NOT EXIST!!!

I think that this driver is not complete and Sony need release an update of the driver. The problem is that I cannot use bluetooth and My mouse is bluetooth!!!!!

Please, if anyone locate a solution, tell me.

No Kee-Lo, no system tray, just an hour glass on the mouse cursor for minute. This is what happens when you upgrade to XP pro. I have another friend also having the same problem.

Why can't sony have an

- applications disk
- drivers disk
- OS disk

instead of this silly recovery disk so you cannot upgrade your OS properly?

Do you have a A117S?

Maybe you should try SP2 - apparently it's great for bluetooth.

You were right....I've installed SP2...worked like a gem!

I suspect, sony install something from SP2 that even before it has been released just to get this bluetooth working.

They just use Bluespace.
I think Sony should suggest SP2 to all it's bluetooth using customers.
