Output video to video projector

I have a PCG-Z1RSP - when I try to play video files they display ok on the laptop but not on a video projector (just get a black rectangle) - video only plays on projector if I toggle the laptop screen off (not so good for presentations!). I'm using mpeg1 in Powerpoint 2003. Any solutions please?

Make sure you set the projector as the primary display

Many thanks - but this only has a similar effect to toggling Fn F7, namely the video will only play on the primary display (either the projector or the laptop screen, not on both at the same time) - it has been possible to play video on both at the same time on other laptops, and (I thought!) previously on the Z1RSP. Hmmm.... So, is the conclusion that it is not possible to play video simultaneously on the 2 displays, on this laptop?

Many of us use laptops for presentations, and this is a bit messy (I already have to drop the display resolution to 1024 x768 of course, prior to a presentation).

I think you would have to use dual monitors to do that.
Usually you set the projector as the primary and the LCD as secondary.
