DVD / Video on FX 502, not the usual problem!!!

Hi there,
I have a quite strange problem with playing DVD´s or Videos on a TV or beamer:

The "normal" picture", the desktop itself appears on the TV or on the beamer; every programme works well and is visible - as long as it is "still picture", like ACDsee, Word, Powerpoint etc.
The Moment I start a DVD or a video (also in PowerPoint), the place where the picture of the movie should be, appears black.
The rest of the screen shows the original desktop, like powerPoint etc.
I changed the resolution to 800*600, also to 600*480.

Has anybody any ideas???

Have you set the external monitor to be the primary display?

Hi Dave,
yes, I did so.
I also installed the new driver for the card.
Everything else - the non-moving elements- is visible, just hte movie part is blank.

Hmm, that's a tricky one. I assume that the laptop screen works OK, it's just when you connect to an external monitor of some sort that you get problems.

Have you tried connecting to other monitors or just 'normal' TV or projector. Could be a problem with the source hardware. Also, how are you connecting the equipment?

The Movie is still visible on the LCD-Display, just on the beamer or TV (different sets, tested with Sony, Grundig etc) is just the place of the moving pictures black.

I connect the outer sets with the Video-out, with the original included yellow cable (plug one side, the other cinch).

Can you confirm, are you having this problem with 'moving pictures' with Powerpoint only, or all software including DVD?

This seems NOT to be a problems of the used software, (like RealOne Player, Windowas Media Player, WinDVD, or PP with MPEG movies included)
The original screen is okay (the one on the vaio), only the clone, the mirror on the TV or beamer has this black gap where the movie should be.

Hello Ke-Loo,
I´ve seen that threat before...
But: I am using the original provided cable; and:
Why is everything else visible, pictures, Word-Documents, just the movies are NOT?
Might it be a to small Video RAM???

I spoke with the guy on the hotline, he recommended me to read the manual, contact the forum...

To the link:
I upgraded the newest version of the driver...

still: No (moving) pictures...

Sorry - but thats rather rude of them to tell you to read the manual or come here, wow, how to not do one's job. I would complain.

Well, apart from settting the TV as the primary display, making sure your graphics card drivers are as new as possible and checking your DirectX is up to date I can't think of anything else...

DirectX is used by programs and games to display graphics
