Cracked Sony Laptop Screen

I Bought a new Laptop from Powercity Store, somewhere in Coolmine, Blanchardstown dublin15 last week and woke up yesterday morning with a cracked screen,went back to the store,they said nothing they can do ,not covered by warranty and they basically advised me to get a new one, cause its not worth the cost of repairs,as im better off getting a new one. so a,€500 Laptop,used for 1 week ,no help, nothing.......,dont really know what to do now,any suggestions will be highly appreciated

Hi olaboboy,

If you were a UK or NI resident I would suggest contacting CAB for advice but you have a similar organisation in Ireland called Citizens Information Board.

This will be a difficult claim to prove as the retailer will probably argue that there is physical damage caused by misuse.

If you have household contents insurance the repair may be covered under that policy.
