VAIO PCG-K115B Screen flickers

Hello all

I have a VAIO PCG-K115B and the screen often flickers, this has only been happening over the past month.

I can sometimes get the screen to flicker upon demand by opening and closing the laptop.

Also on two occasions now, the flicker has turned into a permanent dark screen situation and the only way of resolving was to soft boot the laptop.

Can anyone help me please?

Hi

I would contact VAIO Link over this, as it's seems one of the connections in the case isn't as good as it once was.

¿.So what response have you received from Vaio-Link?
If this is a hardware problem, as Kee-Lo suggested, and your notebook is still under warranty, then there is very little that any of us can do to help, apart from commiserate.:smileysad:

Firstly just to clear this up in case there was a misunderstanding, the

was just the one word that i left off my previous post, thats all, not to be taken as attitude, i appreciate your help BTW.

Have entered into dialogue with Sony and they will get an analyst to call me within the next 24 hours. They also suggested a possible service of the PC under warranty which is good as i am not the original owner............................ebay job. But registration has already been transfered into my name, I wrote to Sony some months back.

I have to say that I highly Rate Sony, they have never let me down to date and in return I buy Sony first.

Sounds like a lose connection inside the unit to me.

Wondered if increased ram may help as the flickering and "total darkness" of screen often happens on start up when system tray is loading up.

Your thoughts please.

Thoughts? Well it's a frequently reported problem so I wouldn't rate Sony highly for that. Otherwise good luck getting it sorted.

I know all too well about this problem. I have sent my PC (same make as yours, the PCG-K115B) back to Germany for a repair, however the problem is STILL NOT FIXED!

I am a tad annoyed, but the problem is worse if the weather has been cold. So far the inverter has always come back to life, but I am less than impressed...

Yeah, I want to sell my laptop now but I can't really because of the flickering screen problem which also was not properly fixed.

You know TT, I would send it back, BUT I need it for uni work so I will just have to put up with it and hope its not a terminal illness.:smileydevil:

Yeah same here. I'm one of the victims of this screen flicker. I have a K215B, and it's still going even though I took it back once to Germany for repairs. The repair lasted for like 2 weeks and then POOF! Flicker happy again!

Yeh I have this problem with my PCG-K115M, is it a common problem with the K series or is it a general Vaio grumble?

Still waiting for my Vaio to be returned...got sent off 1 month ago :S

nop its a K series thing i think by the sounds of it. My VAIO was away for just over 3 weeks, and they sed that the cable had worked itself loose inside. However they gave me a new battery and DVD drive, so im happy!

Oh well, my laptop has just been collected by UPS, giving me some collection proof paperwork would have been nice.

Let's see what happens in a month when she is returned to me...................................I hope ! ! !

I had the same problem with a GRT915M and Vaio-Link had to replace the case harness and the inverter at a cost of around £125.

The lovely Sarah phoned me the other day, and told me the problem has been fixed and the Laptop is on its way back to me. Should get it back by Monday.

Total time from warranty claim to return: approx 7 weeks.

As long as teh thing works when i get it back i wont be too fussed.
