Thanks - I'll see what Sony say . . they don't appear to do repairs to this camcorder here in the UK . .

I bought this camera in 2010 and it has given excellent service. I took it on a shoot last weekend, and I suspect it go knocked or damaged, as it has 2 main defects:

1: Part of the footage shot has a lot of artefacts, looking like small symbols or shapes, in a row across the screen.

2: The camera now only records SD - try to record HQ and it shuts down after showing a message - "data error"

I've tried formatting, resetting, etc, with no effect.

Have I killed it??

Hi,

Probably the internal memory has a defect - you should send the camera for repair.

Cheers

PD

They charge an amazing £180 up front, and don't promise to fix it. Cheaper to buy new one, get the benefits of new, and only pay twice what thet want to charge for repairing a 5-year-old cam!
