HDR-GW66VE conversion lens + saving the lens

Have just bought the HDR GW66VE and want to preserve the lens as the camera will be used in the kayak. Is there no protection filter or a polarid filter to be mounted on existing lens.
Or tips on making a filte yourself?

It is mentioned in the manual that there is conversion lens but I can not find anything on your website

for the HDR-GW55/66/77/88 the wide angle attachment VCL-HGE08G is available (it seems currently only in Asia)

The camcorder itself does not feature a standard filter thread so you can not mount a protection filter to it. The camcorder however is quite rugged and usually does not need a special protection filter.
