USB not working on NWZ -W273

Hi, I've just got the waterproof walkman for my birthday and when I plug the cradle into my PC (Windows 7 Professional) nothing happens. The ports are fine and i've tested them with other devices. Does anyone have any ideas ? Desperate to get swimming and give them a go !

The seller has sent me a new cradle but still not working. Sony helpdesk were awful so relying on this forum and was hoping there might be a Sony specialist employy providing answers. Anybody out there ?

The cradle only works 1 way. You should mate the right hand side of the NWZ-W273 with the side which was the light on it.

If still nothing happens remove the NWZ-W273 from the cradle completely then if you look closely at the centre of the cradle you will see a notch which you can press in, this will make the brass contacts pop up out of the 4 slots.

Check the brass contacts are not damaged or bent and that all 4 pop up. If they look fine check the contacts on the NWZ-W273 are they clean? You can clean them with a cotton bud if necessary using some contact cleaner on it or isopropol.

If you still find its not recognised and noting you have had a dock replacement already it is likely that the

NWZ-W273 may be faulty.

Connect it to a friends PC after doing all the above checks, if it doesn't show up by pressing the windows ORB and going into COMPUTER you will need to send it to Sony for a repair or send it back to where you bought it from
