I know I have mentioned this keyboard on previous posts but it gives you the choice between qwerty/compactqwerty/numeric keypad (which has T9).

There are two versions, the second gives you the option to customise the keys and colours etc. They are both free (but you can make a donation to the guys that wrote them if you are feeling generous!)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654179

Hope this helps.

You could try searching for T9 on the Android Market and see what works for you in the results. (EvenBetter) NumberPad Keyboard (among others) will do the trick for you but you do have to pay for it ($3.99). The results of this search also lists Handcent SMS as having T9 functionality. I'll look into how to use it and get back to you. Hope this helps.

EDIT: As it turns out, in order to use T9 with Handcent SMS, you need to download/install the Handcent Keyboard as well. It is free to download as well, so this shouldn't be a problem, just search for it on the Market. I use Handcent SMS in combination with the Swype keyboard and I haven't looked back since, if you can, you should get into the beta to use the Swype keyboard (unless you would prefer to stick with T9).

I have tried changing the "key width" & "key heights" but no success... Perhaps this is due to the fact that the HTC IME is for HTC phones?

I will continue searching

Thanks!

Hey again Suze!

Thanks for the new link with instructions!

It works perfectly now... quite embarrassingly, I did use "low resolution" as it said Android 1.6 or above and assumed that "high resolution was for Eclair or Froyo... haha

Well it works now, but there are two things that I don't particularly fancy about the HTC, which are - as far as I am concerned - there is no key to press "next" to go to the next predicted word (instead have to select from the list) and it does not recognise the general "user dictionary in Android (instead uses its own separate dictionary)...

What I personally don't fancy about the paid version ((EvenBetter) NumberPad Keyboard) is the resolution of the keys and the boring design. For the rest as for usability, I can't complain but have yet to choose out of the two

And EVERYONE who assisted me, well thanks a million again!!!

Grtz
