CD player not playing have tried reset And no luck

Hi all Sony addicts.
my long loved CDP103 CD player stopped working. It will not play !
The draw has been slow opening and closing but the whole thing worked. Now it just shows the disc flashing and won’t play.
I have followed the Sony online reset instructions but this did not show all clear or anything else in the display.
Any other ideas apart from buying a new one Please.
