Videos not playing from USB?

I am having a problem with videos not playing from USB drive.

I updated to the latest software for the tv, kd55x89ju, and since, the videos on my usb drive won't play. The tv recognises the drive and the videos on it, but when I press to play them, the screen goes black and the playback controls pop up on screen, but don't do anything.

It was fine before the update.

A factory reset has solved it.
