Do I Need Playmemories Home?

I am considering buying a Cybershot HX400V and my understanding is that I need PMH in order to load apps into the camera.

Is this correct?  If so I'll NOT be buying a Sony product because I can't get PMH to install on my PC

• Can I purchase applications even if I do not have a computer?

• You can purchase applications by connecting the supported camera to Wi-Fi. However, you cannot create an account with the camera. To create an account, you can use devices such as PS3 or Sony Tablet, as well as a computer.

Thanks for your reply.

I prefer to use a PC.

I've found "PlayMemories Camera Apps Downloader" and downloaded it, set up runs and it appears to have been installed, but I can't find it in Program Files and there is no shortcut generated.
